The basis for the belly massage I offer is a combination of traditional Chinese abdominal massage, called Chi Nei Tsang and my own intuitive form. Whether you come to this work because of a history of feeling disconnected from your belly, because you have pain, or just want your belly touched, we will work together to heal your relationship to this core part of your body. We will bring loving attention to an area often ignored and shamed. This work can also help you breathe more deeply, release tension, deflate distention, calm the nervous system, increase circulation and detach adhesions that may block optimal digestive functioning. It addresses all of the major organs and systems in the body. When we work on the belly, we work on the whole body.
I am offering a 30, 60 an 90 min sessions. The shorter ones are primarily focused on your abdomen, the longer one will include some general body work.
The belly is a vulnerable area of the body. We take it slow to allow your body & mind to adjust along the way. Some may be tentative to try this, however, many find it to be deeply relaxing once they come to trust the process.
Do I leave my clothes on?
You are more than welcome to leave clothes on or take them off. I will have you draped appropriately either way. If you choose to wear clothes, I ask that they be soft and flexible, like sweatpants and cotton t-shirt, so I can roll items up or down to access your upper body easily.
Does it hurt?
We take it slow enough for you to adjust. As with any massage, you direct. If you want the touch to be more gentle, you tell me. If you want it to be more intense, you let me know. It can be slightly uncomfortable in moments, particularly when we reach an area that may have some stuck qualities.. but I will gently work on it until your body tells me to move on.
